Downy Serviceberry

Downy serviceberry is a 15-30 feet tall shrub that is one of the first to bloom in early spring.  Small white flowers become edible fruit in summer, providing habitat for numerous other species. The wood is hard, and though not a commercial lumber, it is suitable for small craftsman projects. This small tree is well-adapted for a variety of sites.
